Dynamic modeling of psychological processes
Ellen Hamaker - Universiteit Utrecht
At the Dynamic Modeling Lab in Utrecht, we investigate how to best measure and model psychological processes. This can be through the use of panel data, based on a relatively small number of repeated measures spread out over a long period of time, or with intensive longitudinal data that consist of a large number of repeated measures densely spaced in time. In modeling these kinds of data, similar issues arise such as how to deal with stability, how to consider trends or repetitive patterns in the data, and how to study relations between two variables over time. In this talk I will present some of the recent work we have been doing at the Dynamic Modeling Lab, focusing on how to connect theory, measurement and modeling, and what psychology has to gain by adopting causal inference techniques from other disciplines.
